How it works

Consultations

Online & in-person

What happens before we meet?

Getting started

We may discuss what you would like support with, either over email or telephone.

This will help me to establish whether an in-person appointment is more suitable for you, or (if you prefer) an online appointment. You can then book a time that suits you through my online diary.

Once your consultation is booked, I will then ask you to complete an intake form with as much information as you are able to give and happy to share. I will also ask you to provide any relevant medical test results. This information will allow me to form a better understanding of your health prior to your appointment, and ensure we get the best use of the consultation time possible.

All information shared with me is strictly confidential and securely stored.

What happens during your consultation?

Initial · 60–90 minutes

Your initial consultation is an in-depth review of your health, lasting 60-90 minutes.

During this time we will:

  • Discuss your health concerns and symptoms in detail.
  • Review the health of each body system to identify interconnected factors.
  • Discuss your full medical history, and any relevant family medical history.
  • Take a detailed history of medications, supplements or any herbal products you are taking.
  • Discuss diet and lifestyle factors.
  • Perform relevant clinical examinations when appropriate.

What happens after your consultation?

Your plan & follow-up

Following your consultation, I will share my insights and put together a detailed management plan individually tailored to your needs.

This plan will include:

  • One or more bespoke herbal prescriptions, carefully formulated to effectively treat your health concerns whilst also relieving symptoms.
  • Dietary recommendations relevant to your presentation, and grounded in modern research.
  • Lifestyle advice tailored to your needs, to support your overall well-being and long-term health.

Your herbal medicine may be prepared as tinctures (liquid extracts), teas, capsules, creams, or other forms, depending on what's most appropriate and convenient for you.

Your prescription is made up in my dispensary and posted to you, whether we met in the clinic or online.

In order to provide comprehensive care, we will schedule a follow-up appointment approximately 2–4 weeks after your initial visit to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment if necessary. Following this, consultations take place every 4–8 weeks to refine your care and ensure consistent improvement until your health concerns are resolved and treatment is no longer required. Treatment duration varies from person to person, and often depends on the severity and duration of your condition.

I'm here to listen, understand, and support you every step of the way.

In person

Where is the clinic?

My in-person clinic is conveniently located on Berkhamsted High Street, operating inside Berkhamsted Chiropractic, a professional practice that has been serving the health of the community since 1931. Consultations are held in a calm clinic space with views of a private garden.

Berkhamsted is in west Hertfordshire, near the Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire borders, and patients travel to me from the surrounding towns and villages, including Tring, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Apsley, and from Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury a little further out.

Please note that access to the clinic requires climbing a few stairs, please inform me at the time of booking if you have any accessibility concerns.

The full address, an interactive map and parking information can be found both here and in your booking confirmation email.

Parking & Arrival Information

While there is no on-site parking at the clinic, several convenient options are available just a short walk away:

On-Street Parking:

Limited pay-and-display spaces are located along the High Street. (I generally do not recommend these for initial consultations, as they are limited to a 1h duration.)

Water Lane Car Park:

This town car park is a brief 3-minute walk from the clinic entrance.

Local Car Parks:

The public car parks at Waitrose and Lower Kings Road are both within a 4-to-5-minute walk.

How do online consultations work?

An online consultation is the same consultation, held over a video call rather than in the clinic room. You complete the same intake form beforehand, the initial appointment still lasts 60 to 90 minutes, I take the same full history, and we book your initial follow-up two to four weeks later in the same way; after that, follow-ups are more spaced out. I cannot examine you over a call, so we settle whether online suits you at the free 15-minute call or when you book; for some concerns I will suggest we meet in person first.

The practical differences are small.

The call

I use Google Meet. A link arrives by email before your appointment and opens in a browser on a computer, or in the Meet app on a phone or tablet.

What to have ready

Somewhere quiet where you can talk freely and a steady internet connection. I will already have your intake form and any test results, so there is nothing else to prepare.

Your medicine

Your prescription is made up in my dispensary and posted to you, exactly as it is for patients I see in the clinic.

“From the very first appointment, I felt truly cared for by Ellie. She took the time to go through my full medical history in a way that felt thoughtful, unrushed, and genuinely attentive. Her care and precision gave me so much confidence in the process, and I always felt safe knowing nothing was overlooked.”
